Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ron Johnstone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Don Rumble (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ron Johnstone!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Don Rumble!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Stewart Dunkirk and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rumble shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Johnstone as he avoids it easily.
Johnstone tries a head kick but it misses.
Rumble is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Johnstone.


It looks like Don Rumble has been cut.
Johnstone shoots and misses

and Rumble counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Rumble has eaten all the pies!
Rumble trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnstone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Johnstone throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Johnstone working for a triangle but Rumble defends it easily.
Rumble trying to control but Johnstone is working from the bottom.
Rumble stays in close to Johnstone's body and controls the position.
Rumble must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Rumble avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Rumble drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Johnstone manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rumble has Johnstone in his guard.

Rumble controls Johnstone momentarily but Johnstone frees himself.

Rumble looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Rumble is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Rumble working for submissions but it's allowed Johnstone to get to half guard.

Johnstone is looking for a kimura but Rumble is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Johnstone to get the leverage.
Johnstone wants to pass to mount but Rumble is defending the position.

Johnstone preventing the sweep.
Rumble has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Johnstone is in close to Rumble's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Johnstone trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rumble doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Johnstone trying to control the position from guard on top but Rumble is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rumble is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Johnstone pushes Rumble up against the cage in a clinch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Johnstone breaks the clinch.

Johnstone closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Rumble tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Rumble is trying to work for a sweep but Johnstone has mounted him!
Rumble is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Rumble tries to hold on but Johnstone postures up.
Rumble is wriggling around trying to escape.
Rumble is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Rumble shoots in but Johnstone avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Johnstone closes the distance but Rumble moves to the side

and Rumble counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rumble.
Johnstone controls Rumble momentarily but Rumble frees himself.
Rumbleis looking to pass into half guard but Johnstone pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Johnstone is in guard.
Johnstone throws a big right hand that misses.
Rumble looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Johnstone trying to control but Rumble is working from the bottom.
Rumble not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Rumble has his foot on Johnstone's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Johnstone works his way back into a safe position though.
Rumble is breathing heavily.
Rumble looking for a sweep. Not yet Rumble, not yet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Johnstone lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Johnstone throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johnstone drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

and Rumble counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rumble.
Rumble can't get the takedown.
Johnstone is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Rumble pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Ron Johnstone has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Don Rumble.
Johnstone is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Rumble wants a takedown but no success here.
Johnstone is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Johnstone tries to stall but Rumble uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Johnstone is looking to break free of the clinch but Rumble has double underhooks.
Rumble jumps guard but Johnstone stands there with Rumble around his waist. Rumble gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Rumble is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Rumble changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Johnstone fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Rumble closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Rumble tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rumble has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Johnstone has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rumble is working away from the top position though.
Rumble wants to advance to full mount but Johnstone doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
Rumble throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Johnstone not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Rumble feints and as Johnstone raises his hands in defense, Rumble changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rumble postures up.

Rumble connects with a couple of short punches.
Johnstone bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rumble's guard.

Rumble is pressing down on Johnstone's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Rumble looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Rumble lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Johnstone!
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rumble misses with a head shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Don Rumble will probably get the nod - 10:9.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. And we move into the final round!


Johnstone shoots in but no luck this time.

Johnstone wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Rumble has him pressed against the cage.

Rumble has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Johnstone is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

and Rumble counters with a shoot takedown. Johnstone fights it but they end up in guard.

Rumble has gone for a leg lock! Johnstone slips out almost immediately though and dives into Rumble's guard.

Rumble isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Johnstone stacks Rumble on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Johnstone!
Rumble is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Johnstone's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Rumble wants to control but Johnstone is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
It looks like Johnstone is going to stand back up.

Johnstone frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Don Rumble has got the better of the ground game so far.

I would just about give that final round to Don Rumble.
I think Rumble has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
