The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGruff closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on Brashears's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Brashears is looking to reverse the position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Brashears looking for a sweep but McGruff has passed into full mount! Oh no!
Brashears tries to lock up and control but McGruff gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
McGruff is working for a guillotine from mount but Brashears frees his head quite easily.
Brashears is squirming around, avoiding McGruff's attempts to control the action.
Brashears wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Brashears tries to escape the position.
That's one minute gone in the round.
McGruff looking for the RNC.
Brashears is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get McGruff off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
McGruff not allowing Brashears to control his hands.
McGruff is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Brashears won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips McGruff off his unconscious opponent!
