PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Josh Hans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dimincio Ortiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Josh Hans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dimincio Ortiz!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Emerson Jorge and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortiz avoids the body shot from Hans.
Hans lands a jab to Ortiz's midsection.

It looks like Dimincio Ortiz has been cut.
Ortiz shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hans as he avoids it easily.

Hans throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Ortiz tumbling to the canvas!

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hans's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Josh Hans.

Hans throws a left that rocks Ortiz and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Hans dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Ortiz regain composure!

Hans cracks Ortiz with a big right hand but Ortiz just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Hans has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hans scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Ortiz to see if he's OK.
Hans remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Hans takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Ortiz takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Hans throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Ortiz stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Ortiz has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

Ortiz takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Hans is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Hans darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

Ortiz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hans but Hans pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Josh Hans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dimincio Ortiz.

Well Hans has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
