PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Goldsmith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Cartman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Goldsmith might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Dos Equis. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonathan Goldsmith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Cartman!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cartman lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Goldsmith shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cartman napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Cartman is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Goldsmith stands up.
Cartman misses with a few strikes there.
Cartman tries to clinch but Goldsmith moves out of range.
Cartman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Cartman tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Cartman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Cartman misses with a jab, cross combination.
Cartman with a poor takedown

and Goldsmith counters with a nice double leg into side control. Cartman won't be happy with that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Goldsmith is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cartman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Goldsmith decides to stand back up. Goldsmith steps back and let's Cartman get back to his feet.
Goldsmith circles away from the clinch attempt

and Goldsmith counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cartman's guard now.
Goldsmith won't allow Cartman to get back to his feet.
Goldsmith throwing strikes but missing.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Cartman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Goldsmith is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Goldsmith trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Cartman is looking to stand back up but Goldsmith counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Cartman.

Goldsmith postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Cartman to stand up.

Goldsmith scores with a takedown into Cartman's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Goldsmith gets to his feet - Cartman follows without any prompting.
Goldsmith is breathing heavily.
Cartman looks to land a combination but Goldsmith avoids it well.
Cartman lands an overhand right.
Cartman fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Goldsmith moves out of range of the leg kick from Cartman.
Cartman throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Goldsmith decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Cartman's guard.

Goldsmith decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Cartman tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Goldsmith was well out of range. Poor timing from Cartman.

Goldsmith moves into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Goldsmith is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Goldsmith breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cartman darts in trying to clinch

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
and Goldsmith counters with a nice double leg into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cartman wants to stand and escape but Goldsmith is having none of it.
Goldsmith not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Goldsmith tries to free his leg and advance position but Cartman is retaining full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Goldsmith lands a couple of elbows.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jonathan Goldsmith dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Cartman lands with a nice combination. Goldsmith backs away looking to recover.
Cartman misses with a takedown attempt

and Goldsmith counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Goldsmith sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Cartman's guard.
Cartman wants to get back to his feet.
Goldsmith with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

Cartman is pushing off trying to get to his feet. Goldsmith has hold of the leg though and he's dropped back for a heel hook… has he got it?? YES! Cartman is tapping! This fight is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). Jonathan Goldsmith!
