Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roberto De la Vega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ramon Labayen!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Labayen tests De la Vega's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Labayen clobbers De la Vega with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Labayen fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but De la Vega avoids it really well and circles away.

De la Vega is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Labayen defends well.

De la Vega working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Labayen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Labayen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
De la Vega looking to hit a scissor sweep but Labayen is one step ahead there.
Labayen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of De la Vega is proving hard to escape from.

Labayen slips a nice elbow through De la Vega's hands, connecting with De la Vega's forehead.

Labayen seems to be working for a kimura but De la Vega defends the submission attempt.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Labayen looks for a takedown but De la Vega sprawls well.
Labayen throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Roberto De la Vega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ramon Labayen.
Labayen throws a front kick aimed at De la Vega's knee but De la Vega avoids it well.
Labayen tries to work over De la Vega's front leg with a kick but De la Vega checks it.
De la Vega throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Labayen's waist but Labayen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing De la Vega off to one side.
Labayen misses with a head kick.

Labayen rushes De la Vega and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Labayen swings wildly with an uppercut but De la Vega uses good head movement to avoid it.

De la Vega has picked Labayen up - he's going for a ride! De la Vega dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

De la Vega is working for a submission of some sort.
Labayen wants to improve his position but De la Vega is controlling well.

De la Vega is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Labayen still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Labayen has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!
De la Vega tries to buck Labayen off but Labayen is having none of it.

That was a close round but I would say that Roberto De la Vega will probably get the nod.

and De la Vega counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Labayen's guard now.

De la Vega sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Labayen's guard.

Labayen escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. De la Vega gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Roberto De la Vega overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

De la Vega seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Labayen is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
