Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Georges Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thiago Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hughes kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is A Country Boy Can Survive. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Seu Braga and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A punch combination from Hughes misses.

Hughes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Souza keeps working.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Souza wants to control but Hughes is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Hughes is trying to control the action in half guard but Souza is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Souza moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Hughes knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Souza on the ground.

Souza stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hughes swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hughes tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Souza paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Souza feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Souza not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Souza drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Souza jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Hughes throws a nice looking combination but Souza bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hughes feints and as Souza raises his hands in defense, Hughes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Souza bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hughes's guard.
Souza passes easily into side control. Nice work.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Souza advances nicely into full mount.
Hughes is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Let's hope that Souza has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Souza has his feet on Hughes's thighs here. He's pushed Hughes off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Hughes screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
