Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Brawn! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kix Rus! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rus lands with a slapping head kick. Brawn has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Rus. Brawn shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Rus is trying to defend but Brawn finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Rus is looking to control Brawn's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rus avoid being mounted? The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Brawn throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Brawn is thwarting Rus's attempts to control the position. Brawn landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Brawn not landing any meaningful shots this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Brawn missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Brawn not landing any meaningful shots this time.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Brawn bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Brawn looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Rus is avoiding damage well.
Brawn in side control lands a decent elbow. Rus takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Rus really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Brawn. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Brawn landing strikes. Rus is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. This has been an exciting period of action! Brawn tries for a kimura but Rus is defending well. Brawn lands an elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rus dodges the ground and pound from Brawn. Brawn working away. Rus parries the strikes from Brawn easily there. Brawn is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rus to escape.
Brawn looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Brawn is breathing heavily. Brawn throws an elbow but Rus slips to the side and avoids it well. Rus is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rus connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Brawn takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Rus looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Brawn shoots in for a double leg but Rus sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Brawn takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Rus lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Brawn shoots for a double leg takedown but Rus sprawls well. He's pushed Brawn's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Nice body kick from Rus. A kick lands to the mid section there for Rus. Rus throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Rus thuds his shin into the meat of Brawn's side. Rus keeps Brawn at a distance using the push kick. Rus throws a front kick that sends Brawn stumbling back into the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A head kick misses from Rus. Brawn takes a head kick and keeps coming.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Brawn takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Rus thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Brawn if he has to take too many more of those.
Rus lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Brawn will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Rus thows a body kick. Brawn tries to catch it but that hurt him. Rus scores with a head kick.
Brawn takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Brawn shoots in but Rus avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ben Brawn. That's going to take a lot out of him. A solid body kick from Rus. Rus throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
A head kick from Rus lands but Brawn takes it in his stride. Rus throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Brawn.
Brawn is rocked! Brawn looks to land a left hand but Rus moved out of range nicely. Oh Brawn is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Rus lands a high kick!
Rus throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Brawn. Rus throws a nice head kick!
Kix Rus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Rus lands a brutal head kick. Brawn looks out on his feet and Rus throws more strikes until the ref is forced to stop the fight!
