Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jake Hunter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JP Jacobs (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hunter comes to the cage accompanied by The DOC vs Earshot. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Hunter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, JP Jacobs!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Chad Campbell and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jacobs shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hunter defends it nicely.
Jacobs tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hunter sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Jacobs somewhat.

Jacobs closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Hunter looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Hunter is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Hunter looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Hunter won't allow Jacobs to pass to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jacobs is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Jacobs looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Hunter slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Jacobs must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Hunter has his foot on Jacobs's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jacobs works his way back into a safe position though.

Jacobs really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hunter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Jacobs accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Jacobs shoots for a takedown but Hunter saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jacobs throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hunter's waist but Hunter gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jacobs off to one side.
Hunter shoots in for a double leg but Jacobs sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Hunter drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jacobs looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jacobs looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jacobs!

Hunter has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Jacobs is working away from the top position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hunter is looking to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Jacobs tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Hunter counters with a shoot takedown. Jacobs fights it but they end up in guard.
Jacobs wants to sweep here but Hunter controlling him for the moment.

Hunter is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jacobs can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well Hunter has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
