The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Kondo jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Rodriguez is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Rodriguez and Kondo has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rodriguez drops back looking for a leg! Kondo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kondo manages to kick Rodriguez off! Rodriguez jumps back into Kondo's guard.
Rodriguez takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Rodriguez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kondo has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rodriguez has managed to get both his arms back between Kondo's legs - danger averted.

Rodriguez seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kondo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Rodriguez seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Kondo is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
