The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tanaka connects with the punch. Tanaka lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Marshall is rocked! Tanaka fails with the takedown. Marshall dodges the punch combination from Tanaka.
Tanaka swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Tanaka feints and as Marshall raises his hands in defense, Tanaka changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Tanaka sitting in guard, not really doing much. Marshall is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Tanaka is controlling him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tanaka stopping the sweep attempt from Marshall. Marshall seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Tanaka decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Marshall keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Marshall gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Tanaka stands up from Marshall's guard - Tanaka perhaps looking for a knockout. That's three minutes gone in the round. Tanaka decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Tanaka sitting and controlling from the half guard. Marshall avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Tanaka. Tanaka thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Tanaka rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Marshall moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Tanaka looks for a takedown but Marshall sprawls well. Tanaka fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Mustafa Tanaka is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Marshall defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Tanaka. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Tanaka will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Tanaka tries to clinch up. Tanaka is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Marshall is aware though and is defending well. Tanaka keeping moving, preventing Marshall from controlling successfully. Tanaka is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Tanaka working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Marshall. Mustafa Tanaka overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Marshall trying to control but Tanaka is working from the bottom.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Marshall tries to clinch up but Tanaka circles away and keeps his distance. Tanaka drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Tanaka decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Marshall, up you get! Marshall shoots for a double leg takedown but Tanaka sprawls well. He's pushed Marshall's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Tanaka throws a series of punches but Marshall avoids them all with ease. Tanaka shoots and misses and Marshall counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Marshall. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Marshall working some strikes from top position. Marshall looking to sit in guard and control but Tanaka gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Patrick Marshall showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Marshall drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Marshall won't allow Tanaka to get back to his feet. Marshall wants to control from the top but Tanaka keeps moving. Tanaka wants to get back to his feet but Marshall is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Marshall really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Tanaka. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Marshall throwing strikes from guard but Tanaka blocks nicely. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Marshall wants to pass the guard but Tanaka is keeping the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tanaka manages to escape and get back to his feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Tanaka keeping moving, preventing Marshall from controlling successfully. That's three minutes gone in the round. Tanaka wants to get back to his feet but Marshall is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Tanaka looking for a guillotine here but Marshall defends easily.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Tanaka tries for a takedown but Marshall circles away easily so Marshall counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Marshall postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Tanaka is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Marshall defends well. Marshall not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Marshall trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
And that's the end of the fight! Patrick Marshall comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Marshall has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
