PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Austin Duran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wallace's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Who shot Ya?. Duran has chosen Still Fly as his entrance music. Austin Duran has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chris Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Austin Duran!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Duran keeps the fight on the outside.
Duran fails with the takedown.
Duran tries a head kick but it misses.
Duran shoots in for a takedown but Wallace shows good takedown defense.
Wallace will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Duran throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Wallace stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Wallace shoots in looking for a takedown. Duran tries to sprawl out of it but Wallace keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Duran manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Duran misses with a takedown attempt
and Wallace counters with a nice uppercut.
Chris Wallace has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Austin Duran.
Wallace tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Duran swivels and escapes.
Wallace shoots in for a double leg but Duran sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Wallace clobbers Duran with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Wallace closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Wallace lands in his opponent's guard.
Wallace is breathing heavily.
Wallace with a flurry of punches that miss.
Duran is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Duran had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Wallace is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Duran Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Wallace's back instead.
Wallace rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Wallace moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Wallace is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Wallace is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wallace trying to control the position.
Wallace wants to sweep here but Duran controlling him for the moment.
Wallace striking off his back but it's not causing Duran any problems.
Duran must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Duran is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Duran looking to sit in guard and control but Wallace gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Duran working for a triangle but Wallace defends it easily.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Wallace closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Duran to the mat! Duran manages to get full guard.
Wallace passes Duran's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Duran works his way to full guard. Good work.
Wallace postures up.
Wallace stops Duran from standing up.
Duran controls Wallace momentarily but Wallace frees himself.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Duran wants to sweep but no luck.

Duran is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Wallace trying to control the position from guard on top but Duran is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Duran is trying to keep Wallace in close.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Duran misses with a double jab

and Wallace counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Duran moves into full guard.
Duran will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Wallace is pushing down on Duran's leg trying to pass to half guard. Duran is fighting to maintain full guard but Wallace has managed to sneak the leg through.
Wallace wants to pass the guard but Duran is defending well.
Duran is looking to control Wallace's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Duran avoid being mounted?

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Wallace is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Duran is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Chris Wallace!
