Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derwin Hammas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Desmond Souders! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hammas is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Hammas tries to clinch up. Souders closes the distance and clinches. Hammas wants to break the clinch but can't.
Souders turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Hammas is looking to reverse the position. Souders lands an elbow. Hammas knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Souders on the ground. Hammas is not content to let Souders control the position. Hammas is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Souders is controlling him well. Hammas struggling a bit here. Hammas tries to get back to half guard but can't. Hammas is letting Souders control him for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Souders wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hammas keeps working. Souders working the ground and pound. Hammas misses with an elbow from the bottom. Hammas takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Hammas is looking for a sweep. Souders is looking to take a break and control but Hammas is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. You can see the frustration on Hammas's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hammas is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Hammas takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Souders wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hammas keeps working. Souders looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Souders decides to stand up, so the ref orders Hammas to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hammas shoots for a takedown but Souders saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Souders shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hammas pinned against the cage. Hammas gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Souders defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hammas. Souders has closed the distance and engaged Hammas in a clinch.
Souders is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Hammas pulls him back up using the underhooks. Hammas tries to circle away but Souders has him pinned against the cage. Souders tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Hammas smiles and moves away.
Derwin Hammas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Desmond Souders. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Souders.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Souders shoots for a double leg takedown but Hammas sprawls well. He's pushed Souders's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Souders looks gassed! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Souders. Hammas tries to close the distance and clinch but Souders swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Hammas shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Hammas misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hammas misses with a low kick as Souders jumps back. Souders looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Hammas! Hammas is squirming around, avoiding Souders's attempts to control the action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Desmond Souders dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Souders fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Souders slips a jab and a cross from Hammas.
Souders tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hammas swats him away and circles back towards the center. Hammas is looking to clinch but Souders is avoiding it.
Hammas scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Souders wants to slow Hammas down by chopping away at his legs. A combination from Hammas does no damage. Hammas shoots in for a takedown but Souders shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Souders keeps the fight on the outside. Hammas wants to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammas closes the distance looking to clinch and Souders counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Hammas! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hammas is trying to get back to his feet but can't. Hammas is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Hammas is working to get back to half guard.
A nice elbow there by Souders. Souders lands a big shot there that rocks Hammas but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Souders dominating with strikes here. Souders trying to control but he's not successful this time. Hammas really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hammas is working hard here to advance position. Hammas has given up his back here.
Hammas is taking damage to the body and head. You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
You can see the frustration on Hammas's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Souders lands an elbow to the side of the head. Hammas is covering up but some of the strikes from Souders are getting through and doing damage.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Souders's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hammas manages to reverse the position and now he's in Souders's guard. Nice work there by Hammas.
Hammas stopping the sweep attempt from Souders. Souders is breathing heavily. Hammas wants to control from the top but Souders keeps moving. Hammas is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Souders is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Hammas is really struggling to control Souders but he's trying to hold on to the position. Souders will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Souders wants to clinch up but Hammas keeps it at a distance. Desmond Souders seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hammas tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Souders swivels and escapes. Hammas misses with a series of wild punches.
Hammas is trying hard to land a takedown here. Souders sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Derwin Hammas. That's going to take a lot out of him. Horrible takedown by Souders or perhaps it was just good defense by Hammas which made him look bad. Hammas is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Desmond Souders showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Hammas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Hammas leaves Souders with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

and Hammas counters with a two punch combo. Souders shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hammas as he avoids it easily. Derwin Hammas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Hammas tries to clinch there but Souders circles away.
Hammas wants to clinch and Souders counters with an inside leg kick. Souders falls off balance throwing a combination
and Hammas counters with a nice uppercut. No luck with that takedown attempt from Souders. Hammas moves in looking to clinch but Souders pushes him off.
And that's the end of the fight! Derwin Hammas showed his dominance in that final round. I think Souders has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
