PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Griffin Glass (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leslie Morrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Glass's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, run to the hills- iron maiden. Morrow comes into a darkened arena with his song building. In The Air Tonight by Nonpoint kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Leslie Morrow struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 157.2lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Leslie Morrow acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Griffin Glass!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leslie Morrow!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morrow looks for the body kick but Glass saw that one coming.
Glass looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Morrow.
Morrow in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Morrow tries for a kimura but Glass is defending well.
Morrow tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Morrow is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Glass's shoulder. That is not cool.
Glass is not content to let Morrow control the position.
Glass prevents Morrow from improving position.
Morrow connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Glass some visible discomfort.

Morrow scores with punches from side control.
Morrow working the ground and pound from side control.
Morrow really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Glass. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Morrow laying and praying for a moment but Glass takes advantage and regains half guard.

Morrow is looking for a kimura here.
Morrow is stalling here. Glass is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Morrow seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Glass has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Morrow throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.

Glass tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Morrow tries to bench press Glass off him but Glass keeps the position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Glass is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Morrow knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Morrow sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Morrow is defending against the submission attempts here by Glass.
Morrow works his way to full guard. Good work.
Morrow looking for a sweep. Not yet Morrow, not yet.

Morrow has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Glass can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Morrow looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Morrow is on top in guard.
Morrow tries to free his leg and advance position but Glass is retaining full guard.
Morrow stopping the sweep attempt from Glass.
Glass keeping moving, preventing Morrow from controlling successfully.
Morrow content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Morrow postures up.
Morrow trying to control but Glass is working from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Morrow passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Glass is trying to control Morrow's posture but Morrow avoids it.
Morrow wants to control but Glass is keeping him busy.

Morrow stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Glass misses with a takedown

so Morrow counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Morrow avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Morrow stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Glass swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Morrow wants to control from the top but Glass keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Leslie Morrow dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Morrow gets a takedown into half guard.
Morrow lands strikes from half guard.
Morrow wants to take a breather but Glass is having none of it.

Glass looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Morrow is pressing down on Glass's thigh, looking to free his foot. Glass is holding on for now.
Glass is not content to let Morrow control the position.

Glass looking for submissions off his back.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Morrow is looking to advance position but Glass won't allow it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Morrow tries for a takedown but Glass circles away easily

and Glass counters with a takedown into side control.
Morrow tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Glass presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Morrow wants to hold on but Glass pushes him away.
Morrow tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Morrow slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Glass is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Morrow still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Morrow has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

Morrow wants to stand but Glass has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
Morrow is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Morrow wants to control from the top but Glass keeps moving.

Morrow sitting in guard doing not very much at all here. Glass doesn't need a second invitation though! He's locked up a guillotine and he's squeezing tight! That is tiiiiiiiiight! Morrow paying the price for stalling here - he's pushing hard on the arm trying to free himself but it's no use! He's tapped! WOW, quick submission from Glass - great work!
