PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between BJ Fenn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Ing (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, BJ Fenn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Ing!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ing is looking to clinch but Fenn is avoiding it.
Fenn throws a series of punches but Ing moves out of range.
Nice sprawl there from Fenn as Ing shoots in.
Fenn works over Ing's head and body with a nice combination.
Fenn swings for the body but Ing moves out of range.
Ing closes this distance looking for a takedown but Fenn circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ing is looking to clinch but Fenn is avoiding it.
Fenn misses with a series of wild punches.

Fenn misses with a two punch combination.
Ing tries to clinch but Fenn moves out of range.
Ing tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Ing slips a jab and a cross from Fenn.
Fenn throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Ing tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fenn paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Fenn throws a nice looking combination but Ing bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Fenn fails to land with a series of punches.
Ing tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Fenn swivels and escapes.
BJ Fenn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tony Ing.

Ing doesn't manage to clinch there - Fenn circles away.
Ing is looking to clinch.

Ing scoring well with a low kick there.
Fenn takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Fenn keeps the fight on the outside.
No luck for Ing with that takedown attempt.
Fenn misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Fenn throws a combination. Ing tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Ing closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Ing tries to score with some ground and pound. Fenn controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Fenn is pushing Ing's head away, looking to escape. Ing manages to hold on to the position though.
Fenn is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Ing in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Ing is looking to take a break and control but Fenn is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Fenn tries to bench press Ing off him but Ing keeps the position.

Ing pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Ing throws a leg kick but Fenn moved away.
Fenn tries to clinch there but Ing circles away.
Fenn throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Ing.
Fenn tries to bum rush Ing with a series of wild strikes but Ing uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Fenn swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ing closes the distance but Fenn moves to the side
and Fenn counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Ing closes the distance and clinches.
Ing misses with a knee strike.
Fenn is trying to break the clinch but Ing has him pressed against the cage.

Ing pulls Fenn into guard.

Ing looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Ing looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Fenn has picked Ing up and slammed him! Ing can't keep hold of the triangle and Fenn manages to pass to side control!
Ing is breathing heavily.
Ing wants to get back to his feet.

Fenn is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Ing is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Ing is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Fenn's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Ing throws a strike from the bottom but Fenn passes into side control!

Ing is trying to improve his position.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Fenn decides to stand back up.
Fenn throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Fenn misses with the combination.
A choreographed right hand from Fenn misses the target.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Ing wants to clinch
and Fenn counters with a lovely shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

BJ Fenn dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Ing tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Fenn counters by clinching up.
Fenn is trying to break the clinch but Ing has him pressed against the cage.
Ing tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Fenn just stands there and leans against the cage.

Fenn manages to break the clinch.
Ing tries to clinch there but Fenn circles away.

and Fenn holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Fenn breaks the clinch.
Ing throws a left and a right that both miss
and Fenn counters with a low kick, right behind Ing 's knee.
Ing takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ing wants to clinch

and Fenn counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Ing trying to get back to full guard but Fenn takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Ing is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.
Ing tries to control Fenn's body but Fenn pushes him off. Ing squirms to his side and now Fenn has his back!

Fenn has Ing flattened out and is raining down punches.
Ing covering up well and avoiding damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fenn is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Ing knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Ing for a finish.
Fenn is not going to allow Ing to sit and survive in this position.
Ing turns into Fenn and is now in his guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fenn is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Ing avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Fenn has his hands on Ing's head, controlling the position.
Fenn is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fenn wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Ing manages to pass to side control.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ing in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fenn is in trouble now - Ing has advanced to mount!
Ing wants to control the pace but Fenn is squirming around nicely.

And that's the end of the fight!
BJ Fenn showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Fenn has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
