Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Matt Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thor Pe!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Eliza Hachem.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pe wants to clinch.
Pe fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pe tries to close the distance and clinch but Miller swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Miller drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Miller prevents Pe from escaping the position.

Miller controls the position from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Matt Miller.
Miller swings for the body but Pe moves out of range.
Pe fails in his attempt to clinch.
Miller throws a leg kick that misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Pe looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Pe is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Miller feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Miller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Miller tries to free his leg and advance position but Pe is retaining full guard.

Pe is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Miller is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Miller stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pe swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Miller has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Miller closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Miller seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pe for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Miller swats away the attempt to clinch by Pe.
Pe is breathing heavily.
Pe tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Miller paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Miller pivots, looking for a leg kick but Pe is out of range and Miller settles back down.
Miller shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pe's guard.
Miller is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Miller throws a chopping leg kick but Pe manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Miller fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Pe sprawls well initially but Miller persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Miller moves nicely into side control.
Miller just content to control the position.
Miller's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
