The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pike closes this distance looking for a takedown but Ginks circles away.
Evan Pike seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It looks like Buck Ginks has been cut.

Pike takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Pike steps into range and cracks Ginks with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Ginks flops backwards and Pike dives into his guard looking to finish!

Ginks is rocked!
Pike is pushing down on Ginks's leg trying to pass to half guard. Ginks is fighting to maintain full guard but Pike has managed to sneak the leg through.
Ginks is trying to stand back up but Pike is controlling him
Ginks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pike. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Pike will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

A jab-cross combination lands for Pike and sends Ginks crashing to the mat! Pike follows him down to the mat - Ginks regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!

That has opened up Buck Ginks's cut even more.
Pike looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Ginks with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Pike stands up and beckons Ginks to join him on the feet.
Ginks seems to have recovered his senses.

Pike throws a shot from downtown. Ginks moves away and avoids it.

Pike cracks Ginks with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Pike here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
