Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Billy Bouraka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nolan Schmidt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nolan Schmidt has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Billy Bouraka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nolan Schmidt!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, William Peck and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Bouraka as Schmidt shoots in.
The fight stays on the outside here - Schmidt looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Schmidt closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Bouraka is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Schmidt defends well.
Schmidt keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Bouraka's head.
Schmidt stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bouraka swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bouraka is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Schmidt defends well.

Bouraka escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Schmidt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Bouraka has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Schmidt can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Schmidt lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Schmidt is working Bouraka over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Schmidt got a little sloppy there for a moment and Bouraka has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Schmidt has managed to get both his arms back between Bouraka's legs - danger averted.
Schmidt makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Bouraka will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Schmidt is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bouraka is just riding it out for now. Schmidt eventually gives up the hold.

Schmidt slips a nice elbow through Bouraka's hands, connecting with Bouraka's forehead.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Bouraka controls Schmidt momentarily but Schmidt frees himself.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Bouraka is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Schmidt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Schmidt can do anything to dispel that myth.

Bouraka drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bouraka jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Schmidt escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Bouraka gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Schmidt has his feet on Bouraka's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Bouraka drops back looking for a leg! Schmidt is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Schmidt manages to kick Bouraka off! Bouraka jumps back into Schmidt's guard.

Bouraka has gone for a leg lock! Schmidt slips out almost immediately though and dives into Bouraka's guard.

Bouraka drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Bouraka as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Schmidt screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Bouraka! Nice submission victory there!
