Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of New York, Phil Brooks!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gregg Valentine!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Lou da Vinci and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Valentine as he avoids it easily.
Brooks tries to clinch but Valentine moves out of range.
Valentine keeps the fight on the outside.
Valentine swats away the attempt to clinch by Brooks.
Brooks tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Brooks tries to clinch there but Valentine circles away.
Horrible takedown by Brooks or perhaps it was just good defense by Valentine which made him look bad.
The fight stays on the outside here - Brooks looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Brooks is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Brooks tries to clinch up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brooks looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Valentine is fending him off so far but Brooks persists. Nope, Valentine circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Phil Brooks. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Valentine throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Brooks!
Brooks shoots in and drives through. Valentine sprawls well.
Valentine stuffs the takedown.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Brooks wants to clinch up but Valentine keeps it at a distance.
Valentine stuns Brooks with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Brooks tries to close the distance and clinch up but Valentine swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Brooks takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Brooks is breathing heavily.
Valentine scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Valentine with a nice cross.


It looks like Phil Brooks has been cut.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Valentine lands a big right hand that sends Brooks crashing to the mat! Valentine stays standing though and waves Brooks back to his feet!


Brooks is rocked!
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Brooks. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Crack! Valentine connects with the perfect overhand right and Brooks falls face first to the canvas. Timbeeeeeeeer! Beautiful knockout for Valentine!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Gregg Valentine! Gregg Valentine retains his welterweight title!
