Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between JASON OKEEFFE (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rip James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). OKEEFFE comes into the arena with WE NO SPEAK AMERICANO blaring out of the sound system. James has chosen What's the difference as his entrance music. Rip James is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rip James!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Steven Brown and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

James feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

James thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
OKEEFFE avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
James postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
James is pushing down on OKEEFFE's leg trying to pass to half guard. OKEEFFE is fighting to maintain full guard but James has managed to sneak the leg through.

James is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. OKEEFFE doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time James.
OKEEFFE is looking for a sweep. James is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
James has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

James is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
OKEEFFE holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

That's one minute gone in the round.

James is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
James prevents OKEEFFE from improving his position.
OKEEFFE has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. James is working away from the top position though.

James is looking for a kimura but OKEEFFE is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for James to get the leverage.
OKEEFFE avoiding damage under a succession of punches from James.

James is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! OKEEFFE is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
