Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, CJ Groove! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Maicon Snakes! The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Luis Engracia and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Snakes clinches with his opponent.
Groove really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Snakes looking to slow down the pace here. Groove is trying to force a seperation but Snakes has the dominant position. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Snakes gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Groove regains guard.
Groove is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Groove lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Snakes! Snakes wants to hold on but Groove pushes him away. Groove working for a submission but Snakes is keeping him at bay. Groove with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
That's one minute gone in the round. Groove wants to control the pace but Snakes is squirming around nicely. Snakes wants to control but Groove is having none of it. Snakes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Groove. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Snakes is controlling an arm, preventing Groove from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Groove controlling from the full mount. Snakes keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Snakes is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Snakes tries to hold on but Groove postures up. Snakes really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Groove moves to take his opponent's back. Snakes is trying to get to his feet but he's left his neck exposed and Groove manages to sink in a rear naked choke! Great counter grappling by Groove!
