Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Casey Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ronnie Brewer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brewer has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Casey Palmer has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ronnie Brewer!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Lou da Vinci and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palmer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Brewer takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Palmer takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Brewer shoots in but no luck this time.
Palmer throws out a leg kick but Brewer moves out of range and Palmer only half commits.
Brewer throws a leg kick but Palmer sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Brewer throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Palmer counters with a two punch combo.
Palmer lands a head shot.


It looks like Ronnie Brewer has been cut.

Palmer misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Palmer throws a left and a right that both miss
and Brewer counters with a three punch combo that has Palmer backing up. Palmer nods at Brewer to acknowledge the strikes.
Brewer misses with a few strikes there.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Palmer swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Brewer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
An inside leg kick lands from Palmer.
Casey Palmer is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Brewer looks gassed!
Palmer misses with a double jab
and Brewer counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Palmer connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Palmer catches Brewer napping and connects with a big right hand that sends Brewer to the canvas!


Brewer is rocked!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Palmer trying to control but Brewer is working from the bottom.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brewer can do anything to dispel that myth.
Palmer is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Brewer is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Brewer keeping moving, preventing Palmer from controlling successfully.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Palmer fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Palmer throws a series of punches but Brewer avoids them all with ease.

Casey Palmer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Brewer misses with a jab to the body
and Palmer makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Palmer misses with a looping left.
Brewer is breathing heavily.
Palmer looks to land a combination. Brewer sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Brewer checks a leg kick.
Palmer scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Brewer dodges the punch combination from Palmer.
The fighters circling - Brewer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Palmer looks to land a combination but Brewer avoids it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Brewer misses with a body shot.
Palmer goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


That has opened up Ronnie Brewer's cut even more.
A combination from Palmer does no damage.

Palmer lands a left and a right that sends Brewer crashing to the canvas! Palmer dives into mount looking to finish!
Brewer is still in real trouble! Can Palmer finish him?
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Palmer sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Brewer seems to have recovered his senses.

Palmer has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Brewer is squirming around, avoiding Palmer's attempts to control the action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Palmer will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Some wild striking there from Brewer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brewer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

and Brewer counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and Brewer counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Ronnie Brewer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Palmer throws a right hand that Brewer ducks under and follows up with a left that Brewer also avoids with ease.
Palmer works over Brewer's head and body with a nice combination.

and Brewer counters with a three punch combo that has Palmer backing up. Palmer nods at Brewer to acknowledge the strikes.
Palmer is looking to chop away at Brewer's legs.
Palmer swinging wildly here.
Brewer connects with a good right hand that stumbles Palmer. Palmer circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Palmer misses with a hook.
Palmer misses with a two punch combination.
Brewer swings for the body but Palmer moves out of range.
Brewer misses with a double jab.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Palmer tries to close the distance and clinch but Brewer swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Brewer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

And that's the end of the fight!
Casey Palmer showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Palmer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
