Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Sam Hart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitch Layden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mitch Layden has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Sam Hart's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Sam Hart! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mitch Layden! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Colin Fotheringham.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Layden crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Hart - the referee stops the clock and Layden gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Hart. Layden manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Layden connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. A nice leg kick lands there from Hart. Hart throws a head kick that Layden semi-blocks.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hart.
Hart throws a head kick that misses. Hart scores with a push kick. Hart tries to clinch up but Layden circles away and keeps his distance. No luck with that takedown attempt from Layden. Hart stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Hart tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Layden shoots for a double leg takedown but Hart sprawls well. He's pushed Layden's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Hart dips to his left and cracks Layden with an uppercut! Hart throws a nice head kick!
A kick lands to the mid section there for Hart. Hart rushes Layden and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hart gets control of Layden's arms and successfully pulls guard. Hart will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Layden must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Hart wants to sweep here but Layden controlling him for the moment. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hart is on top in guard.
Hart's corner is telling him to maintain position. Layden looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Layden being controlled here, momentarily. Hart throwing strikes from guard but Layden blocks nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hart trying to move into half guard but instead Layden has managed to sweep! Layden thows a big elbow that misses. Hart avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hart pulls Layden in close to prevent any damage. Layden throwing strikes but missing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hart is on top in guard.
Hart trying to control but Layden is working from the bottom. Hart stands up and waves to Layden to follow him. Hart is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Layden. Layden darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Layden ducks under a wild hook from Hart.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hart throws an overhand right that lands on Layden's shoulder, as Layden tries to avoid the shot. Hart moves into the clinch successfully.
Hart turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hart has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Layden! Hart is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Layden to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Layden shrugs it off. Hart sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Hart swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Layden is now in Hart's guard. A big mistake from Hart there, giving up the dominant position! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sam Hart dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Layden throws a lazy head kick and Hart counters with a solid body kick. Hart tries to clinch up but Layden circles away and keeps his distance. Hart closes the distance and clinches. Hart stalling against the cage.
Hart manages to break the clinch.
Hart ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Hart misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hart uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Layden.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A thudding body kick lands there by Hart!
Layden tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hart swats him away and circles back towards the center. Mitch Layden is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Layden shoots and misses and Hart counters with a shoot takedown. Layden fights it but they end up in guard. Layden looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's one minute gone in the round. Layden escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hart gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Layden is breathing heavily. Hart passes Layden's left leg - he's now in half guard. Hart controlling the pace. Hart is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Hart is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Layden is just riding it out for now. Hart eventually gives up the hold. Hart looking for a submission but Layden manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hart trying to control but Layden is working from the bottom. Layden not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hart looking to pass the guard. Hart advances to half guard. Layden looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Layden is looking to improve his position.
Layden is not content to let Hart control the position. Hart missing with the ground and pound from half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Hart thuds his shin into the meat of Layden's side. Hart scores with a push kick. Hart scores with a push kick. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sam Hart dominated that second round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!
Hart drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Hart throws a big right hand that misses. Hart gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Layden on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Hart. Hart obviously looking to wear him down.
Hart dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Layden. That did some damage! Hart darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Hart is just content to waste time from the top position. Layden takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. Layden avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hart throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Layden looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Layden takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Layden keeping full guard, as Hart tries to pass. Hart slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Hart advances position into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. You can see the frustration on Layden's face as Hart controls the position. Hart stands up. That's three minutes gone in the round. Layden is looking to sinch up a triangle. Hart throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Layden's body to avoid the submission. Layden has instead reached around Hart's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Layden arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Mitch Layden!
