The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goodwin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Nichols as he jumps to the side.
Goodwin shoots for a double leg takedown but Nichols sprawls well. He's pushed Goodwin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Nichols circles away from the clinch attempt.
Nichols throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Goodwin closes the distance and clinches up with Nichols, looking for a takedown. Goodwin pushes Nichols against the cage but Nichols circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Nichols shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Goodwin's guard.
