PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Pietro Rava (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dexter Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rava comes into the arena with Blue October - Drilled a Wire through my cheek blaring out of the sound system. Morgan has chosen The Green Man - Easy as his entrance music. The key to victory for Pietro Rava has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Pietro Rava!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dexter Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Radbod Blank and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morgan drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rava is trying to keep Morgan in close.
Rava wants to stand but Morgan is controlling the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Morgan wants to stand but Rava is controlling his posture from full guard.
Rava has Morgan pulled in close to control his posture.
Rava keeping moving, preventing Morgan from controlling successfully.
Morgan wants to stand and escape but instead Rava has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Morgan has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rava can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Rava has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Morgan misses with a takedown attempt - Rava sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Morgan tries to clinch there but Rava circles away.
Rava looks to land a combination. Morgan sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Morgan gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rava to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Rava drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Rava jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Morgan looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rava is one step ahead there.
Rava works over Morgan with some ground and pound from guard.
Rava wants to control from the top but Morgan keeps moving.

Morgan working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Rava has passed into half guard!

Rava stands up out of the half guard.

Rava lands with a kick to the temple. Morgan shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Rava works over Morgan's head and body with a nice combination.

Rava closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Rava lands in his opponent's guard.
Rava distracts Morgan with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Rava throws a big right hand that misses.

Rava drops back looking for a leg! Morgan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Morgan manages to kick Rava off! Rava jumps back into Morgan's guard.
Rava looking to sit in guard and control but Morgan gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Rava wriggles free and stands up.
Rava lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Rava has taken the fight to the clinch.
Morgan goes for a takedown in the clinch but Rava prevents it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rava scores with a knee to the head.

Rava manages to break the clinch.

Rava shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rava accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Rava trying to control the position from guard on top but Morgan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pietro Rava dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Rava has managed to clinch.
Morgan can't get the takedown.

Rava breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Rava rushes Morgan and presses him up against the ropes.
Morgan is trying to break free.
Knees to the body from Rava.
Rava looking to stall.

Rava manages to break the clinch.

Rava takes the fight into the clinch.
Morgan fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Rava lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the ropes.

Rava manages to break the clinch.

Rava closes the distance and clinches.
Rava trying to stall but Morgan improves his position.
Morgan is breathing heavily.

Rava manages to break the clinch.
Morgan misses with a takedown attempt

and Rava counters with a nice double leg into side control. Morgan won't be happy with that.
Pietro Rava has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dexter Morgan.
Rava wants to control but Morgan is keeping him busy.

Morgan tries to bench press Rava off him but Rava keeps the position.
Check out the look on Rava's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Rava creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Rava wants to control but Morgan is keeping him busy.
Rava in side control lands a decent elbow.
Rava lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Morgan down.
Morgan gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Morgan is bucking up trying to escape but Rava cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Morgan is in a horrible position here. Rava smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Pietro Rava overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Morgan takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.


Morgan is rocked!
Morgan can't escape the position.

Rava landing punches.
Rava postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Morgan bigstyle! Two more strikes land for Rava and the fight is over!
