Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Haral Dir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chase Kimpton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Haral Dir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Chase Kimpton!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Summer Carpenter and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dir shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dir showed some decent athleticism there.

Dir is looking for a kimura but Kimpton is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Dir to get the leverage.
Kimpton manages to get to full guard.
Kimpton seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Kimpton looking to control.
Dir has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Kimpton looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Kimpton controls Dir momentarily but Dir frees himself.
Kimpton wants to stand and escape but Dir is having none of it.

Dir trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Kimpton has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Dir is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kimpton.

Dir decides to stand back up. Dir steps back and let's Kimpton get back to his feet.
Kimpton is looking to clinch but Dir is avoiding it.

Dir looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kimpton looks gassed!

Dir stands up from half guard.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dir is defended easily by Kimpton.
Kimpton slaps away a takedown attempt from Dir, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Dir shoots in for a takedown but Kimpton shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Haral Dir. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kimpton lands a nice hook to Dir's body. Dir takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Kimpton displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dir.

Dir lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dir decides to stand up, so the ref orders Kimpton to his feet.

Dir drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Dir seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Dir passes into half guard.
Dir is taking a breather. Kimpton says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Kimpton wants to improve his position but Dir is controlling well.
Dir is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Dir seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kimpton for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dir stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Dir is looking to clinch.

Dir closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Dir lands in his opponent's guard.

Dir gets to his feet - Kimpton follows without any prompting.

Dir darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Dir in particular looking to stall.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Dir changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kimpton looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Kimpton is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Kimpton manages to work his way to half guard, despite Dir's best efforts.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kimpton wants to get back to full guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Kimpton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Dir wants to free his trapped foot but Kimpton is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Dir is thwarting Kimpton's attempts to control the position.

Kimpton is breathing heavily.
Dir's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Haral Dir.

Dir shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Dir showed some decent athleticism there.

Dir gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Haral Dir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Dir looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Kimpton is looking for a sweep. Dir is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Dir escapes and gets back to his feet.
Dir shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Kimpton counters with a two punch combo.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Kimpton wants to get back to full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dir stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Dir shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kimpton napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Haral Dir dominated that second round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Kimpton defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Dir.

so Dir counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Kimpton throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Dir is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Dir is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Haral Dir.

and Kimpton counters with a one-two to the body.
Dir looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Dir shoots in for a double leg but Kimpton sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

and Kimpton counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Dir shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kimpton sprawls well. Kimpton wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dir gets slowly back to his feet.
Dir is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kimpton can do to turn this around?

Dir can't keep his opponent in guard - Kimpton advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Kimpton seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Kimpton is looking to stall here but Dir recovers full guard.
Dir manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Kimpton manages to get himself to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kimpton is trying to keep Dir in close.
Dir slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Dir forces his way into half guard.
Dir passes to side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Dir decides to stand back up. Dir steps back and let's Kimpton get back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Haral Dir showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Dir, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
