Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Geraldo Higgins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dougray Scott !
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Scott shoots in and bounces Higgins off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Higgins wants to stand up but Scott is controlling him.
Scott sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Higgins's guard.
Higgins is trying to maintain the position but Scott is very close to passing his half guard.

Higgins actively working from the bottom here.
Higgins trying to hold on to Scott 's head to control him but Scott postures up.

Scott is looking for a kimura but Higgins is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Scott to get the leverage.
Scott seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Scott wants to lay and pray for a moment but Higgins keeps working.

Higgins might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Higgins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Scott gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Scott is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Higgins is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Higgins has escaped and now he's on top!
Scott is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Higgins preventing the sweep.
Higgins won't allow Scott to get back to his feet.
Scott throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Higgins doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Scott counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Higgins!
Scott lands a big elbow.

Scott moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Higgins has worked his arm free - good work by Higgins!

Scott tries for a kimura but Higgins is defending well.
Higgins is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Higgins is pressing down on Scott 's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Higgins has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Scott can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Higgins controls Scott momentarily but Scott frees himself.
Higgins trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!

Scott drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Scott jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Higgins escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Scott gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Higgins is trying to keep Scott in close.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dougray Scott dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Higgins shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Scott counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Scott content to stall in guard here.

Scott lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.

Scott got a little sloppy there for a moment and Higgins has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Scott has managed to get both his arms back between Higgins's legs - danger averted.

Higgins is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Higgins working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Scott doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Scott manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Scott avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Higgins is looking for a triangle but Scott pushes his legs off easily.

Scott stands and steps away. Higgins gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Scott drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Higgins is looking to regain half guard here but Scott keeps moving and retains side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Higgins on the wrong end of some ground and pound.
Higgins is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

Scott is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Higgins is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Scott goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Higgins has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Scott but great work by Higgins.

Higgins stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Higgins misses with a takedown

so Scott counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Scott throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Scott postures up in Higgins's guard and throws a big left but Higgins blocks it.
Dougray Scott has got the better of the ground game so far.

Higgins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Higgins has his feet on Scott 's thighs here. He's pushed Scott off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Scott screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
