Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Noel Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rio Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith comes to the cage accompanied by Duality - Slipknot. Gracie is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bob Marley - Smoke Two Joints. Noel Smith has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Franklyn Lucas and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Gracie shoots in and drives through. Smith sprawls well.
Smith stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Smith wants it to stay on the feet.
Smith looks to score with a jab to the body but Gracie is just out of range.
Gracie looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Smith is fending him off so far but Gracie persists. Nope, Smith circles away and we're back to standing.
Noel Smith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rio Gracie.

Gracie misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Gracie shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Smith lands a nice looking body shot.
Smith stuns Gracie with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

Smith leaves Gracie with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Smith closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Gracie did well to prevent Smith getting side control.

Smith looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Smith is stalling here. Gracie is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Smith seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Gracie has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Smith is looking for a sweep.

Smith wants to control but Gracie postures up.
Gracie is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Smith is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Gracie misses with a takedown
and Smith counters with a two punch combo.
Smith scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Smith stays in close to Gracie's body and controls the position.

Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Smith counters with a nice uppercut.
Smith pushes Gracie up against the cage in a clinch.
Smith lands a nice elbow.
Smith lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Gracie backwards.
It looks like Rio Gracie has been cut.
Smith lands a hook that snaps the head of Gracie backwards.
Gracie tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Smith smiles and moves away.
Smith just misses with a punch to the body.
Gracie misses with a takedown
and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Gracie wants to improve his position but instead Smith has moved into half guard.
Smith is taking a breather. Gracie says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Gracie tries to get to full guard but Smith has control of the leg.

Smith is nestled in close to Gracie, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Smith wants to take a breather but Gracie is having none of it.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Noel Smith.
Gracie gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Smith counters with a left and a right that stings Gracie.

and Smith makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Gracie is breathing heavily.
Gracie tries for a takedown but Smith circles away easily
and Smith counters by clinching up.

Smith scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Smith lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Smith.
Smith tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Gracie avoids it.
Smith creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Gracie's defenses.
Gracie tries to pull guard but Smith holds him up against the cage and eventually Gracie drops back down to his feet.
Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Gracie shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Smith counters with a straight right hand.
Gracie is rocked!
Smith lands with a shot to the body.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Noel Smith dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on Rio Gracie's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Smith tries to clinch up but Gracie circles away and keeps his distance.
Gracie avoids the body shot from Smith.
Gracie on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Smith ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Smith stalks Gracie and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Gracie's face. Gracie staggers backwards, shaken.
Gracie is still on wobbly legs! Can Smith finish him?
Smith steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Gracie is out on his feet! Smith sets himself and nearly takes Gracie's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Noel Smith!
