Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Rick Patterson!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGillicutty lands with a straight right. Patterson didn't see that one coming.


It looks like Rick Patterson has been cut.
Rick Patterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Patterson looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

McGillicutty changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Patterson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.


Patterson is rocked!
Patterson prevents McGillicutty from moving into mount.
McGillicutty is looking to take a break and control but Patterson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Patterson is looking for a sweep.
Patterson takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

McGillicutty is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Patterson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
McGillicutty passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Patterson!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McGillicutty looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

McGillicutty is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Patterson tries to hold on but McGillicutty pushes him away.
McGillicutty breaks from Patterson's wrist control and lands an elbow.
McGillicutty looking to control but Patterson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

McGillicutty has control of Patterson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Patterson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

McGillicutty wants to finish this one by submission but Patterson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from McGillicutty.
McGillicutty tries to control but Patterson wriggling away.
Patterson regains half guard.
McGillicutty thows a huge punch but Patterson dodges it nicely.
Patterson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. McGillicutty is working away from the top position though.

McGillicutty missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Patterson is trying to control but can't.
Patterson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
McGillicutty trying to mount his opponent but Patterson defends it.
Patterson is trying to get back to full guard.

McGillicutty is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Patterson defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Patterson tries to clinch there but McGillicutty circles away.
McGillicutty throws a lazy right hand but Patterson sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Excellent takedown into side control there by McGillicutty.
Patterson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McGillicutty wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McGillicutty wants to lay and pray for a moment but Patterson keeps working.
McGillicutty working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Patterson can't do much from the bottom here.
McGillicutty wants to stand but Patterson has his arm trapped.

McGillicutty tries for a kimura but Patterson is defending well.
McGillicutty is looking to take a break and control but Patterson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
McGillicutty passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Patterson!

McGillicutty working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Patterson turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips McGillicutty off and cradles Patterson's limp body as McGillicutty celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Patrick McGillicutty!
