The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Silva shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sanders as he jumps to the side.

Sanders forces Silva back against the cage and clinches.

Silva jumps into guard, dragging Sanders to the mat.
Sanders loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Sanders throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Silva works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Silva is looking for a triangle but Sanders pushes his legs off easily.
Sanders prevents Silva from getting back to his feet.

Sanders is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Sanders is fending him off so far but Silva persists. Nope, Sanders circles away and we're back to standing.

Sanders got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sanders has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.

Sanders drops back looking for a leg! Silva is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Silva manages to kick Sanders off! Sanders jumps back into Silva's guard.

Silva is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Sanders decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Silva, up you get!
