Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Kane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shakyamuni Buddha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Andrew Kane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shakyamuni Buddha!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Buddha tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kane swivels and escapes.

Buddha tries to sprawl but Kane drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Kane throwing shots but Buddha is blocking nicely.
Kane knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Buddha on the ground.
Buddha keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Kane throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Buddha manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Andrew Kane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Buddha feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Buddha thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Buddha is fighting to break Kane's control of his arms but Kane is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Buddha stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kane swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Buddha passes Kane's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Kane tries to roll over but Buddha keeps him under control.
Buddha is keen to just control but Kane is a slippery customer.

Buddha is fighting to break Kane's control of his arms but Kane is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Buddha drops back looking for a leg! Kane is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Kane manages to kick Buddha off! Buddha jumps back into Kane's guard.

Buddha drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Buddha jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kane wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Andrew Kane.

and Buddha counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Buddha thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Buddha stands and throws Kane's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Kane tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kane is not content to let Buddha control the position.

Kane on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kane tries to get out of the position.

Buddha tries to move to mount but Kane blocks the move with his legs.
Kane wants to control but Buddha postures up.
Kane is not content to let Buddha control the position.
You can see the frustration on Kane's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Buddha has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Buddha looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shakyamuni Buddha dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and Kane counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Buddha is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Kane is looking to control Buddha's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Kane avoid being mounted?

Buddha wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kane keeps working.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

Buddha tries to close the distance and clinch but Kane swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

so Buddha counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

OK we're going to have a standup here. Shakyamuni Buddha hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Buddha closes the distance and clinches up with Kane, looking for a takedown. Buddha pushes Kane against the cage but Kane circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Kane throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Buddha tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kane is in Buddha's guard.
Kane throws a strike but Buddha rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Buddha is stalling in the full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Shakyamuni Buddha showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Buddha tries to pass the half guard into mount. Kane knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Andrew Kane.

Shakyamuni Buddha is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Buddha is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kane's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kane's back!
