And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Vincent The Vandal!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Sam Margolis and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Vandal tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McGillicutty paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Vincent The Vandal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The Vandal rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McGillicutty moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
The Vandal slips under a jab from McGillicutty.
The Vandal uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from McGillicutty.
McGillicutty has a takedown stuffed.
The Vandal throws a head kick but McGillicutty moves out of range.
McGillicutty missing with a left hand there. The Vandal was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
The Vandal throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McGillicutty.

The Vandal lands a high kick to the side of McGillicutty's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! The Vandal dives into guard, looking to finish.

It looks like Patrick McGillicutty has been cut.

McGillicutty is looking for a triangle here but The Vandal uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Oh McGillicutty is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

The Vandal decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on McGillicutty, up you get!

and McGillicutty counters with a shoot takedown. The Vandal fights it but they end up in guard.

and McGillicutty counters with a nice double leg into side control. The Vandal won't be happy with that.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

McGillicutty swings around for an armbar but The Vandal sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into McGillicutty's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McGillicutty looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
McGillicutty manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

McGillicutty is working for a guillotine from mount but The Vandal frees his head quite easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Patrick McGillicutty will probably get the nod.

McGillicutty stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The Vandal swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The Vandal is looking to stand up but McGillicutty isn't so interested in that idea.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
The Vandal thows a leg kick but McGillicutty checks it

so McGillicutty counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
This has been an exciting period of action!

McGillicutty thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

McGillicutty is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

McGillicutty stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The Vandal swivels though and keeps the full guard.

McGillicutty is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! The Vandal is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! The Vandal has escaped and now he's on top!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

McGillicutty escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. The Vandal gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The Vandal seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

McGillicutty closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

McGillicutty has worked his way into a potential kimura here. The Vandal is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. McGillicutty yanks on the arm and The Vandal is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by McGillicutty.
