Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Vostovischk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, James Ford!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vostovischk avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ford bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Vostovischk shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Ford scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Vostovischk could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Ford lands with an overhand left.
Vostovischk tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Ford closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Ford's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Ford throws a series of strikes that have Vostovischk backpedaling.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Ford shoots for a double leg takedown but Vostovischk sprawls well. He's pushed Ford's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Ford scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Vostovischk tries to keep at a distance but Ford has taken the fight into the clinch.

Ford wants to stand but Vostovischk is controlling the position.
Ford looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Ford wants to stand and escape but Vostovischk is having none of it.
Ford is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Ford is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Ford gets control of Vostovischk's arms and successfully pulls guard. Ford will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Ford manages to escape and get back to his feet.
A head kick from Ford lands but Vostovischk takes it in his stride.

A nice combination there by Ford.
Ford lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Ford throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Ford is trying to control the position but Vostovischk postures up.

Ford lands a head kick. Vostovischk smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
A left and a right from Ford both land. Nice combination.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

James Ford dominated that round.

Ford closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Vostovischk to the mat! Vostovischk manages to get full guard.
Ford wants to control from the top but Vostovischk keeps moving.
Ford working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Vostovischk's head.
Ford stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Vostovischk swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Ford trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Ford tries to free his leg and advance position but Vostovischk is retaining full guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Ford gets to his feet - Vostovischk follows without any prompting.
Ford scores with the left hand. Vostovischk knows he should have avoided that one.
Ford scores with a nice strike.
Ford digs a good hook to Vostovischk's body.
Ford might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Ford scores with a sloppy right hand. Vostovischk should have avoided that one.
James Ford seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Vostovischk takes one to the side of the head.
Ford lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Ford connects with a jab.
Ford goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

Ford lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Ford's corner calls for a 1-2. Ford obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

Ford has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Ford slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Ford jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.

Ford shoots in and bounces Vostovischk off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Ford is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Vostovischk is just riding it out for now. Ford eventually gives up the hold.

Ford not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

James Ford showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ford lands with a big left! Vostovischk is wobbled badly! Ford comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Vostovischk to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
