Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mabishiro Sakamoto! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mighty Mike! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Columbo Gatti and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mike shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Sakamoto looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Mike is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sakamoto sees it coming and defends easily. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Mike is taking a breather. Sakamoto says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Mike seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sakamoto does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Mike is looking to advance position but Sakamoto won't allow it. Sakamoto is defending against the submission attempts here by Mike.
Mike seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Mike should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Mike sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sakamoto defending well though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mike is trying to work for a kimura but Sakamoto is defending well.
Mike wants to advance to full mount but Sakamoto doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Mike with a flurry of punches that miss. Mike has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mike is pushing down on Sakamoto's leg trying to pass to half guard. Sakamoto is fighting to maintain full guard but Mike has managed to sneak the leg through. Mike is trying to work for a kimura but Sakamoto is defending well.
Mike is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Mike is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sakamoto defends it well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mike thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Sakamoto's head. Mike is looking for a kimura but Sakamoto is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Mike to get the leverage. Mike working over Sakamoto with some ground and pound. Sakamoto looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Mike is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Mike is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Mike is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Mike looking for a guillotine from mount but Sakamoto is having none of it. Mike wants to control the pace but Sakamoto is squirming around nicely. Mike landing strikes from the mount. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Mike throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Sakamoto has his hands clasped together but Mike breaks the hold and Sakamoto is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Mike!
