PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joshua Kosheck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buster Vessel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vessel is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Graveyard Symphony. Buster Vessel told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joshua Kosheck! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Buster Vessel! The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kosheck shoots for a double leg takedown but Vessel sprawls well. He's pushed Kosheck's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Vessel throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kosheck shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Vessel leaves Kosheck with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joshua Kosheck. That's going to take a lot out of him. Vessel keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Kosheck throws a one two combo.
Kosheck fails with a takedown attempt. Kosheck tries to clinch but Vessel moves out of range. Kosheck wants to clinch. Kosheck changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vessel tries to avoid it but Kosheck manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vessel to the ground. Vessel escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Kosheck is breathing heavily. Thud! ouch! good body kick from Vessel - that will leave a mark!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Vessel changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kosheck looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vessel tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Vessel is trying to get an arm triangle but Kosheck is defending well. Vessel lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Vessel has hold of Kosheck's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kosheck tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Vessel cranks the arm and Kosheck screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kosheck, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Buster Vessel!
