Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Fighter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and mark munoz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fighter comes to the cage accompanied by Golpe de Estado. John Fighter has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, mark munoz!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Jonathan Paton and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fighter looks to score with a jab to the body but munoz is just out of range.
Fighter thows a body shot but no joy.
munoz misses with a two punch combination.
munoz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
mark munoz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fighter throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and munoz counters with a three punch combo that has Fighter backing up. Fighter nods at munoz to acknowledge the strikes.
munoz throws a right and a left that Fighter avoids nicely.
munoz misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fighter looks to land a combination but munoz avoids it well.
Fighter defends well against a solid takedown attempt from munoz.
Fighter could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

munoz displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Fighter.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

munoz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and munoz wants it to stay on the feet.
Fighter closes the distance and clinches up with munoz, looking for a takedown. Fighter pushes munoz against the cage but munoz circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

munoz shoots in looking for a takedown. Fighter tries to sprawl out of it but munoz keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Fighter manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Fighter is looking to stand up but munoz isn't so interested in that idea.

munoz is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

munoz is working for a kimura from half guard. He's really concentrating on the hold and it's allowed Fighter to slip a leg under and get back to full guard.

munoz wants to pass the guard but Fighter is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Fighter is on top in guard.

Fighter postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Fighter postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! munoz is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Fighter, into his guard.
munoz won't allow Fighter to sweep him here.
munoz prevents Fighter from getting back to his feet.

munoz has gone for a leg lock! Fighter slips out almost immediately though and dives into munoz's guard.
munoz has momentary wrist control but Fighter slips an elbow through the middle.

Fighter is looking to work some ground and pound but munoz has wrist control.
Fighter throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

munoz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Fighter is aware though and is defending well.
Fighter throws a big right hand that misses.
Fighter wants to stand and escape but instead munoz has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Fighter wants to sweep here but munoz controlling him for the moment.

munoz drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and munoz jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fighter shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has munoz pinned against the cage. munoz gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

and Fighter counters with a single leg into guard. munoz didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fighter is working munoz over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Fighter has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

munoz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Fighter is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! munoz is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! munoz has escaped and now he's on top!

munoz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fighter has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, munoz has managed to get both his arms back between Fighter's legs - danger averted.

munoz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

munoz drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Fighter dives on top into guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Fighter is in close to munoz's body, working some short punches and elbows.

munoz is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Fighter frees his head nicely. Oh but munoz has switched to an armbar! Fighter is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
