Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Martti Metsonen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anton Tewal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Metsonen kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is -. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Martti Metsonen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Anton Tewal! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Patrick Alders and Aafke Stam.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Metsonen shoots in for a takedown but Tewal shows good takedown defense. Metsonen lands with a shot to the body. Metsonen checks a leg kick nicely. Tewal misses with a head kick.
Good leg kick by Metsonen there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Metsonen lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tewal circles away quickly and effectively. Metsonen scores with a spinning back kick! Tewal looks gassed! Tewal tries a head kick but it misses.
No joy there for Metsonen, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Metsonen shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Tewal manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Metsonen with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. This has been an exciting period of action! Metsonen lands a couple of elbows. Metsonen is looking to work some ground and pound but Tewal has wrist control. Metsonen has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Metsonen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Metsonen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Tewal really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Metsonen. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Metsonen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Metsonen looking to pass the guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Metsonen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Tewal works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Metsonen tries to free his leg and advance position but Tewal is retaining full guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. A punch combination from Metsonen misses. Tewal lands a lovely overhand right. A nice combination there by Metsonen.
Tewal throws a hook but Metsonen avoids it easily. Metsonen displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
It looks like Anton Tewal has been cut. Tewal tries a head kick but it misses.
Tewal lunges at Metsonen with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Metsonen's hand.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Metsonen is defended easily by Tewal. Metsonen shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Tewal napping and manages to drive through into side control! Metsonen working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Metsonen is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Tewal knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Tewal sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Metsonen prevents Tewal from improving his position. Metsonen scoring with strikes to the body and head. Tewal looks like he's trying to stand up.
Metsonen thows a huge punch but Tewal dodges it nicely.
Metsonen tries to pass the half guard into mount. Tewal knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Metsonen lands strikes from half guard. Metsonen winds up and cracks Tewal with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Tewal wants to control but Metsonen is keeping busy.
Metsonen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Metsonen throwing shots but Tewal is blocking nicely. Tewal moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Metsonen lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Metsonen postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Tewal is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Metsonen, into his guard. Tewal has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Metsonen is proving hard to escape from. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Metsonen is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Martti Metsonen dominated that round. The cut man is working on Anton Tewal's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
A punch combination from Metsonen misses. Tewal throws a head kick but Metsonen moves out of range.
Tewal moves out of range of the body kick. Metsonen clobbers Tewal with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Metsonen looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Metsonen fails with a takedown attempt. Anton Tewal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tewal misses with a body shot
and Metsonen counters with a nice double leg into guard. Tewal trying to control the position.
Metsonen trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Metsonen passes Tewal's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Metsonen is looking for a kimura but Tewal is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Metsonen to get the leverage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Tewal wants to get back to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round. Tewal bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Metsonen's guard. Metsonen throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Tewal trying to control the position from guard on top but Metsonen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Metsonen had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Tewal defends it easily. Martti Metsonen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Metsonen working Tewal over with strikes. Tewal blocking the ground and pound attempt from Metsonen. Tewal is looking for a sweep. Metsonen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tewal can do anything to dispel that myth. Metsonen in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Tewal tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Metsonen!
