2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Todd Ellis! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Fedor Mirinova and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight stays on the outside here - Todd Ellis looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Todd Ellis fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hartman throws a right and a left that both miss. Hartman shoots in and bounces Todd Ellis off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Todd Ellis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hartman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Hartman is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Teddy Hartman. Hartman looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Todd Ellis actively working from the bottom here. Hartman is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Hartman decides to return to a standing position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Todd Ellis darts in trying to clinch and Hartman counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hartman was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Hartman lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Todd Ellis hang on? Hartman controlling his opponent. Hartman prevents Todd Ellis from getting the reversal. Hartman takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hartman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Todd Ellis taking shots to the head. David Todd Ellis seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Todd Ellis gets caught flat footed, as Hartman shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Todd Ellis looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hartman passes into half guard.
Hartman slows the pace down in half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Hartman connects with a nice short shot to Todd Ellis's temple.
