Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Per Saukko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hickson Gwacie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Saukko comes to the ring accompanied by Jedi Mind Tricks - Genghis Khan . Per Saukko has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Per Saukko!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hickson Gwacie!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice cross by Saukko.
Gwacie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Saukko.

Gwacie fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Saukko sprawls well initially but Gwacie persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Gwacie is controlling the pace.

Gwacie is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Saukko moves into full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Saukko looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gwacie is one step ahead there.
Saukko is trying to keep Gwacie in close.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Saukko tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Saukko looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Saukko keeping moving, preventing Gwacie from controlling successfully.

Saukko tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Gwacie thows a left - swing and a miss!
Gwacie is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Saukko.
Gwacie throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Per Saukko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Saukko avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Gwacie throws a lazy right hand but Saukko sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Gwacie misses the shot to the body.
Gwacie tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Saukko was well out of range. Poor timing from Gwacie.
A big right from Gwacie misses.
Gwacie misses with a looping right.
Gwacie tries to close the distance and clinch but Saukko swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Saukko fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gwacie manages to avoid it.

Gwacie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Saukko is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Gwacie's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hickson Gwacie dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gwacie is defended easily by Saukko.
Saukko dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Gwacie looks to score with a jab to the body but Saukko is just out of range.
Gwacie misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Saukko.
Gwacie is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Gwacie misses the shot to the body.
Gwacie takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Saukko throws a body punch but Gwacie moves out of range.
Saukko lands with a hook. Gwacie tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Horrible takedown by Saukko or perhaps it was just good defense by Gwacie which made him look bad.

Saukko lands with an uppercut that bounces Gwacie off the ropes and back into rage.
Gwacie circles away from the clinch attempt.
Gwacie displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Saukko.
Gwacie stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
A jab from Gwacie misses.
Saukko looks to land a left hand but Gwacie moved out of range nicely.
Gwacie lands with an uppercut that bounces Saukko off the ropes and back into rage.

Gwacie scores with a takedown into Saukko's guard.
Gwacie trying to control the position from guard on top but Saukko is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gwacie controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gwacie stands and throws Saukko's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Saukko is not content to let Gwacie control the position.

Gwacie is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Saukko knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Saukko is looking for a sweep.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Saukko is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Saukko wants to get back to full guard.

Saukko is trying to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hickson Gwacie showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Saukko's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


The crowd cheers as Gwacie lands an impressive looking overhand right. Saukko doesn't seem phased though.
A lazy left from Saukko finds it's target.
Gwacie fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Saukko throws a body kick that misses.
Saukko tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Gwacie takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Gwacie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Saukko is looking for a sweep.
Saukko looking for a sweep but Gwacie has passed into full mount! Oh no!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Saukko is desperately trying to improve his position but Gwacie has a good base and remains in mount.
Saukko tries to control Gwacie's body but Gwacie pushes him off. Saukko squirms to his side and now Gwacie has his back!
Saukko is really stuck here.
What can Saukko do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
I really don't envy Saukko right now.
Gwacie controls the action.
Saukko tries to escape the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Gwacie is controlling the position but Saukko somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.
Saukko wants to improve his position but Gwacie is controlling well.
Per Saukko has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Gwacie ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Saukko throws a hook but Gwacie blocks it.
Saukko slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Gwacie has a takedown stuffed.
Saukko throws a series of punches but Gwacie avoids them all with ease.

Gwacie feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Gwacie looking to sit in guard and control but Saukko gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Saukko is looking to work some ground and pound but Gwacie has wrist control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hickson Gwacie comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Gwacie winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
