PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maxx Pain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcel Thuram (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pain comes into the arena with Days of Revenge by Ramallah blaring out of the sound system. Thuram is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Dario G - Carneval de Paris. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thuram steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pain.
Pain fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Thuram avoids it really well and circles away.
Pain looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pain.

Thuram throws a left that rocks Pain and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Thuram dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Pain regain composure!

It looks like Maxx Pain has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thuram trying to control the position but Pain is working away.
Pain is trying to improve his position.
Thuram really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pain. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

I looks like Thuram might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Pain is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Thuram is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Pain is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Thuram might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Pain kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Despite being in the dominant position, Marcel Thuram just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Thuram misses with a two punch combination.
Pain shoots for a double leg takedown but Thuram sprawls well. He's pushed Pain's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Pain shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Thuram as he avoids it easily.

Pain takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.

Maxx Pain's cut is getting worse.

Thuram lands a high kick to the side of Pain's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Thuram dives into guard, looking to finish.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thuram wanted to stand there but Pain had control of the position.
Thuram is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Pain is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Thuram defends well.
Thuram has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Pain is proving hard to escape from.
Pain controls Thuram momentarily but Thuram frees himself.
Pain can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Thuram controls the pace.

Thuram got a little sloppy there for a moment and Pain has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Thuram has managed to get both his arms back between Pain's legs - danger averted.

Thuram decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Pain, up you get!
Thuram closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Maxx Pain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pain misses with a takedown attempt

and Thuram counters with a flying knee that drops Pain!
Oh Pain is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Maxx Pain's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Thuram with a flurry of punches that miss.

Pain has his foot on Thuram's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Thuram works his way back into a safe position though.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Thuram fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pain on the side of the head.

and Thuram counters with a head kick that drops Pain - he's looking to finish, following his stunned foe to the ground!

Jeez, Maxx Pain's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Maxx Pain's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
