PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Crash Bandicoot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nyquil Salazar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bandicoot's entrance music is Crash Bandicoot: Jungle Rollers Remix. A fine choice. Salazar is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Enter Sandman. Nyquil Salazar will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Crash Bandicoot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nyquil Salazar!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bandicoot shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Salazar wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Bandicoot.
Bandicoot wants to get back to his feet but Salazar is holding on tight.
Salazar can't escape the position.
Salazar avoids a series of strikes thrown by Bandicoot.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bandicoot is trying to stand up but he's being controlled by his opponent.

Bandicoot is working for a guillotine from mount but Salazar frees his head quite easily.
Bandicoot wants to control the pace but Salazar is squirming around nicely.

Bandicoot with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Salazar gets back to half guard.

Salazar slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Bandicoot is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Salazar cracks Bandicoot with a solid left hand.

Salazar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bandicoot works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Bandicoot keeping moving, preventing Salazar from controlling successfully.
Bandicoot is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Bandicoot is looking for a kimura but Salazar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Bandicoot to get the leverage.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That was a close round but I would say that Crash Bandicoot will probably get the nod.

Bandicoot bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Salazar has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Salazar is looking for a sweep.

Bandicoot working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Bandicoot tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bandicoot has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Salazar is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Salazar is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Bandicoot lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Salazar moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Salazar controls Bandicoot momentarily but Bandicoot frees himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bandicoot drops back, looking for a kneebar! Salazar looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Salazar looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Salazar!

Salazar seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Bandicoot is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Salazar defends well.
Salazar stays in close to Bandicoot's body and controls the position.
Salazar throws a big right hand that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Salazar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Bandicoot working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Salazar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Salazar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Nyquil Salazar showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Bandicoot feints and as Salazar raises his hands in defense, Bandicoot changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Crash Bandicoot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Salazar looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Salazar not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Bandicoot is fighting to break Salazar's control of his arms but Salazar is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Nyquil Salazar.
Salazar throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Bandicoot.
Salazar throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Nyquil Salazar comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Salazar has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
