Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shingen Yamamoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Money Pakyaw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shingen Yamamoto had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shingen Yamamoto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Money Pakyaw!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yamamoto pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Pakyaw tries to clinch up.
Pakyaw shoots in and drives through. Yamamoto sprawls well.

Yamamoto shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Pakyaw napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Yamamoto takes a little break here. Pakyaw wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Yamamoto creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Yamamoto works to advance to full mount. Pakyaw defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Yamamoto is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Pakyaw has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Pakyaw!
Pakyaw lands a couple of digs.
Pakyaw wants to stand and escape but instead Yamamoto has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Yamamoto sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Pakyaw's guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Yamamoto in particular looking to stall.

Yamamoto seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pakyaw for as long as he can get away with.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Shingen Yamamoto.

and Yamamoto counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Yamamoto.

Yamamoto breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

and Yamamoto counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Yamamoto feints and as Pakyaw raises his hands in defense, Yamamoto changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Yamamoto decides to stand up, so the ref orders Pakyaw to his feet.

and Yamamoto connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Yamamoto counters with a slapping leg kick.

Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Yamamoto obliges.

Pakyaw gets underhooks to prevent Yamamoto's takedown attempt.
Pakyaw misses with a hook from the clinch.
Pakyaw tries to pull guard but Yamamoto holds him up against the cage and eventually Pakyaw drops back down to his feet.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Pakyaw.

Yamamoto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Pakyaw takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

and Yamamoto counters with a nice body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Yamamoto slaps away a takedown attempt from Pakyaw, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Shingen Yamamoto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Money Pakyaw.

Yamamoto gets a clinch.

Yamamoto has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Pakyaw uses from the top position.
Yamamoto manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pakyaw manages to get himself to full guard.
Yamamoto works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Yamamoto looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Yamamoto passes the guard and advances to mount!

Yamamoto takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Yamamoto has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Yamamoto throws a shot from downtown. Pakyaw moves away and avoids it.

Pakyaw is looking to break free of the clinch but Yamamoto has double underhooks.
A frustrated look appears on Yamamoto's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Shingen Yamamoto overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Yamamoto manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Pakyaw closes the distance looking to clinch
and Yamamoto counters with a head kick. That will keep Pakyaw thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Money Pakyaw has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Shingen Yamamoto is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Yamamoto pushes down on Pakyaw's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Well Yamamoto has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
