Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Wanderlei Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Paulson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paulson has chosen Pantera - Cowboys from Hell as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Wanderlei Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Robert Paulson! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Konstantin Menshow and Sergei Dronov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paulson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Paulson wants it to stay on the feet. Paulson closes the distance and clinches. Paulson lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Silva or not. Paulson taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Paulson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Paulson which made him look bad. Silva shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wanderlei Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him. Silva drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Silva is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Paulson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Silva is trying to get an arm triangle but Paulson is defending well. Paulson manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Paulson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Paulson is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Silva has an active guard here but Paulson has managed to pass into half guard.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Paulson in particular looking to stall. Paulson is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Silva! Silva is in all sorts of trouble here.
Silva is in a horrible position here. Paulson smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Silva wants to control but Paulson is having none of it. Paulson controlling his opponent. Paulson avoids the attempt from Silva to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Paulson controlling the position easily from mount. Silva is working to get back to half guard.
Silva tries to hold on but Paulson postures up. Paulson controlling from the full mount. Silva tries to lock up and control but Paulson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Paulson lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Paulson controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Robert Paulson dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Paulson gets in close and instigates a clinch. Paulson breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Paulson throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Silva. Paulson clobbers Silva with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Silva takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Paulson stuffs the takedown. Paulson stuns Silva with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Paulson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Paulson defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Silva. Paulson misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Silva shoots for a takedown but Paulson saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Wanderlei Silva. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paulson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Silva tries to score a power double leg takedown but Paulson sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Silva somewhat. Silva walks into a jab. Paulson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Paulson lands a body punch. Paulson works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Paulson scores with a jab. Nice body punch from Paulson. Paulson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Paulson cracks Silva with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Paulson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Silva at a distance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Silva misses with a takedown attempt - Paulson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Paulson scores with a crisp jab that stopped Silva in his tracks. Paulson scores with a jab to the jaw. Paulson lands with a cross. Paulson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Jab by Paulson. Paulson closes the distance and pushes Silva back into the cage. Silva tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Paulson smiles and moves away.
Paulson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Paulson misses with a two punch combination.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A swing and a miss from Paulson. Silva closes the distance and clinches up with Paulson, looking for a takedown. Silva pushes Paulson against the cage but Paulson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Silva changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Paulson tries to avoid it but Silva manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Paulson to the ground. Paulson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Paulson slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Silva scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. An elbow from Silva crashes against the mat.
I wouldn't like to be where Paulson is right now. Paulson sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Paulson trying to control but Silva postures up.
Silva is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Silva is trying to control. Paulson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Paulson manages to escape and get back to his feet! Paulson throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Paulson throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Silva throws a head kick that misses. Paulson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Silva was well out of range. Poor timing from Paulson. Paulson throws the left hand but Silva avoids the punch easily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A punch combination from Paulson misses. Paulson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Paulson throws a body punch but Silva moves out of range. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Robert Paulson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

That's two minutes gone in the round. Paulson tries to bum rush Silva with a series of wild strikes but Silva uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Paulson misses with a body shot.

Paulson paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Paulson throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Silva is rocked! Paulson misses with a looping right. Oh Silva is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Silva avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Paulson misses with a hook. Silva ducked under it nicely. Silva keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Paulson. Paulson rushes Silva and presses him up against the cage.

Silva seems to have got his legs back now. Silva tries to pull guard but Paulson holds him up against the cage and eventually Silva drops back down to his feet.

Silva ducks under a wild hook from Paulson. Paulson throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Silva doesn't succeed with the takedown and Paulson counters with a nice uppercut. Wanderlei Silva is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Paulson circles away from the clinch attempt and Silva takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Robert Paulson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Paulson throws an overhand right that lands on Silva's shoulder, as Silva tries to avoid the shot. Silva throws a shot from downtown. Paulson moves away and avoids it. Paulson looks to land a combination. Silva sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Paulson rushes Silva and presses him up against the cage. Paulson lands a hook to the side of the head. Paulson manages to break the clinch.

Wanderlei Silva has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! A shot to the body from Silva misses and Paulson counters with a lovely shot to the body.
And that's the end of the fight! Robert Paulson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Paulson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
