PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Draft Beer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brad Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Beer might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to 300 Violin Orchestra. The crowd seem to be enjoying Ryan's choice of entrance music: Freestyler. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ryan looks for a takedown but Beer sprawls well.

Ryan rushes Beer and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Ryan controlling the action here for a moment.
Beer really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Beer tries to circle away but Ryan has him pinned against the cage.

Ryan misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ryan cracks Beer with an open hand slap.
Beer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ryan takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
A slow jab from Beer misses its intended target.

Ryan moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Ryan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Beer defends it nicely.
Ryan shoots in for a takedown but Beer shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Beer looks to land a combination but Ryan avoids it well.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ryan tries to clinch but Beer is having none of it.
Beer clobbers Ryan with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Beer dips to his left and cracks Ryan with an uppercut!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Ryan misses with a few strikes there.
Some wild striking there from Beer.
Ryan tries to close the distance and clinch up but Beer swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ryan misses with a takedown attempt - Beer sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Ryan misses with a hook to the body
and Beer counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Ryan tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Beer counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Ryan takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Ryan rushes Beer and presses him up against the cage.
Beer is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Beer throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Ryan moves into the clinch.
Ryan jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Beer walks away with a smile on his face. Ryan gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Beer lands a jab to Ryan's midsection.
Ryan is trying desperately to land a takedown but Beer is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Ryan.

Ryan shoots in but Beer avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Ryan counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ryan.
Ryan throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Beer works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Ryan throws a strike but Beer rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Beer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ryan swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ryan working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Beer doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Beer manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Ryan can't keep his opponent in guard - Beer advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Ryan tries to roll over but Beer keeps him under control.
Ryan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Beer looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Ryan is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Beer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Beer's back!
Beer is really stuck here.
Brad Ryan has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ryan is persistently looking for the submission but Beer is defending it well.
Ryan takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ryan is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Beer. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped.
Ryan thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Ryan is looking for the choke from the back position but Beer is controlling his hands well.
Beer covering up well under a barage of strikes.

Ryan doesn't have the hooks in and Beer manages to turn into his guard.
Draft Beer is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Beer slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Ryan tries to land a sweep but no joy.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Beer is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Beer wants to control from the top but Ryan keeps moving.
