The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dwan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Bellator looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Dwan misses with the ground and pound. Dwan wants to control but Bellator is keeping him busy. Dwan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bellator, who protects the arm well. Dwan tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dwan has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Dwan is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Bellator will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dwan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bellator, who protects the arm well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dwan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Bellator keeps working. Bellator dodges the ground and pound from Dwan. Dwan working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Dwan postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Bellator is looking to get back to his feet here but Dwan is keeping cool and he's managed to take Bellator's back. Dwan has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Bellator! Can he survive? No! He's out! Dwan gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Tom Dwan!
