Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Miller! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mark Munoz! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Munoz shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Miller napping and manages to drive through into side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Munoz looks up at the clock and then as Miller takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Munoz smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Miller prevents Munoz from moving into mount. Miller is looking to reverse the position. Miller gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Miller is trying to control but can't.
Munoz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Miller. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Miller regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Munoz. Miller is trying to control the position but Munoz postures up. Munoz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. That's one minute gone in the round. Munoz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Miller leaves Munoz with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Munoz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Miller but Miller pushes him off and we're back to square one. Mark Munoz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Munoz looks gassed! Horrible takedown by Miller or perhaps it was just good defense by Munoz which made him look bad. Munoz shoots in and bounces Miller off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Miller keeping full guard, as Munoz tries to pass. Miller throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Munoz wants to stand but Miller is controlling the position. Miller is standing up over Munoz. Munoz looks to escape but Miller dives into side control.
Miller advances nicely into full mount. Munoz is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

Munoz is squirming around, avoiding Miller's attempts to control the action. Miller working away from the top, dropping strikes. Munoz wants to try and get back to his feet. Miller controlling his opponent. Munoz is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Miller scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Munoz is trying to stand. Munoz bucks up and throws Miller to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape! Munoz fails to land the takedown. Jason Miller has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mark Munoz. Miller fails with an attempt to clinch.

Munoz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Munoz stops Miller from standing up. Munoz stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miller swivels though and keeps the full guard. Miller is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Munoz wants to pass the guard but Miller is keeping the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Munoz shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Munoz showed some decent athleticism there. Munoz is pressing down on Miller's thigh, looking to free his foot. Miller is holding on for now. Munoz is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard. Munoz stops Miller from standing up. Miller might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Munoz passes into half guard. Munoz trying to mount his opponent but Miller defends it.

Munoz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Munoz pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Miller is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Munoz tries to move to full mount but Miller actually manages to regain half guard. Munoz moves nicely into side control. Munoz goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Miller rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Munoz's guard! Nice work there by Miller!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Miller showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Miller passes Munoz's left leg - he's now in half guard. Miller tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Munoz. Munoz is looking to escape. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Miller winds up and cracks Munoz with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Munoz is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Munoz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
Munoz will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Munoz has his takedown stuffed and Miller counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Miller has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Munoz is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Miller doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Miller jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Munoz walks away with a smile on his face. Miller gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Munoz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Miller counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Miller. Munoz wants to get back to his feet but Miller is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Miller trying to control but Munoz is working from the bottom. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Miller won't allow Munoz to get back to his feet.

Jason Miller has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Mark Munoz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Munoz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jason Miller. I think Munoz has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
