Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joesy Scott I (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Macapinlac (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Macapinlac told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Macapinlac misses with a takedown attempt - Scott I sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Macapinlac tries to clinch up but Scott I circles away and keeps his distance. Scott I tries to close the distance and clinch up but Macapinlac swats him away and circles back towards the center. Macapinlac throws a sloppy head kick and Scott I moves out of range easily. Joe Macapinlac seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Macapinlac scores a takedown into full mount! Macapinlac goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Scott I turns into him and now he's in Macapinlac's guard.
Scott I has gone for a leg lock! Macapinlac slips out almost immediately though and dives into Scott I's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Macapinlac trying to control but Scott I is working from the bottom. Scott I has control of Macapinlac's left arm, preventing Macapinlac from doing any damage. Macapinlac must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Scott I keeping moving, preventing Macapinlac from controlling successfully. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Macapinlac wants to get up but he can't break Scott I's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Macapinlac wants to control from the top but Scott I keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Macapinlac is looking to advance position but Scott I has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount! Scott I jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Macapinlac is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Macapinlac and Scott I has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Macapinlac is trying to improve his position. Scott I working away. Macapinlac manages to work his way to half guard, despite Scott I's best efforts. Scott I seems to be looking for submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Scott I is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Macapinlac is just riding it out for now. Scott I eventually gives up the hold. Scott I is looking for a kimura but Macapinlac is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Scott I to get the leverage. Macapinlac is holding on to half guard well. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Macapinlac can do anything to dispel that myth. Macapinlac wants to control but Scott I is keeping busy and won't allow it. Macapinlac kicks off Scott I and gets to his feet. Scott I misses with a series of wild punches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The fight stays on the outside here - Macapinlac looks like he's thinking about clinching though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Macapinlac shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Scott I but Scott I pushes him off and we're back to square one. Scott I with a poor takedown and Macapinlac counters by moving into the clinch. Macapinlac breaks the clinch.
Scott I tries for a takedown but Macapinlac circles away easily and Macapinlac counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Scott I's guard now. Macapinlac trying to control the position from guard on top but Scott I is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Scott I manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
That's one minute gone in the round. Scott I prevents Macapinlac from getting the reversal. Scott I with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.

Scott I is looking to work his way around to Macapinlac's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position. Scott I goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Macapinlac turns into him and now he's in Scott I's guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Scott I is controlling Macapinlac's posture. Macapinlac trying to control the position from guard on top but Scott I is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Macapinlac trying to stand up but can't free himself from Scott I's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Scott I is adopting a defensive guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Scott I working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Macapinlac.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Macapinlac looking to sit in guard and control but Scott I gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Macapinlac is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Scott I drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Macapinlac manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Scott I has Macapinlac in his guard. Macapinlac should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Macapinlac wants to stand and escape but instead Scott I has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Macapinlac showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Scott I shoots in for a double leg but Macapinlac sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Scott I misses with a takedown and Macapinlac counters with a single leg into guard. Scott I didn't expect that. Macapinlac decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Scott I, up you get! Scott I tries for a takedown but Macapinlac circles away easily and Macapinlac counters with a shoot takedown. Scott I fights it but they end up in guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joesy Scott I. That's going to take a lot out of him. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Macapinlac trying to control but Scott I is working from the bottom.

Scott I keeping moving, preventing Macapinlac from controlling successfully. Macapinlac is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Macapinlac pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Scott I is keeping the position for now. Macapinlac trying to control but Scott I is working from the bottom. Scott I not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Macapinlac stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Scott I swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Scott I closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Macapinlac did well to prevent Scott I getting side control. Scott I is looking for a kimura here.
