The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Freitas looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sarmiento is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Freitas seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Sarmiento is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Freitas dives into side control.
Freitas tries for a kimura but Sarmiento is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Sarmiento's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Sarmiento tries to hold on but Freitas pushes him away.
Freitas jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Sarmiento is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Sarmiento and Freitas has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Freitas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sarmiento, who protects the arm well.

Freitas thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Sarmiento is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Freitas is controlling him well.
Sarmiento tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Freitas wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Freitas has control of an arm but Sarmiento manages to advance to Freitas's back!

Freitas breaks Sarmiento's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Freitas passes into half guard.
Freitas is trying to work for a kimura but Sarmiento is defending well.

and Freitas decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Sarmiento's guard.
