Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jonas Loteyro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Viktor Resnov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jonas Loteyro! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Viktor Resnov! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Loteyro shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Resnov as he jumps to the side. Loteyro shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Resnov as he avoids it easily. Resnov closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Loteyro is defending against the submission attempts here by Resnov.
Resnov sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Loteyro defending well though. Resnov decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. Resnov fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Loteyro avoids it really well and circles away. A nice leg kick lands there from Loteyro. Loteyro throws a nice outside leg kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Loteyro scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Loteyro trying to control the action but Resnov is working from the bottom. Loteyro lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Loteyro has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand. Loteyro lands a body shot.
Resnov looks gassed!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Loteyro wants to clinch. Loteyro misses with a body kick. Loteyro moves out of range of the body kick. Resnov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Resnov lands in his opponent's guard. Loteyro is adopting a defensive guard. Resnov won't allow Loteyro to get back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Resnov stopping the sweep attempt from Loteyro. Resnov postures up.
Resnov showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Resnov connects with a couple of short punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Loteyro tries to land a sweep but no joy. Loteyro pulls Resnov in close to his closed guard and prevents Resnov from doing any damage or advancing position. Loteyro looking to control.
Resnov passes easily into side control. Nice work. Resnov just content to control the position. Resnov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Loteyro keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jonas Loteyro will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!
Loteyro is looking to clinch but Resnov is avoiding it.
Loteyro doesn't succeed with the takedown and Resnov counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Resnov keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Loteyro has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Resnov is working away from the top position though. Resnov slips a nice elbow through Loteyro's hands, connecting with Loteyro's forehead. Resnov decides to stand and escape the position. Resnov checks a leg kick. Resnov doesn't succeed with the takedown and Loteyro counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Resnov is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Loteyro's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Loteyro's back! Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Resnov cracks Loteyro with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Loteyro from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Resnov.
Loteyro staying busy and making it hard for Resnov to control. Resnov slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Let's hope that Resnov has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Resnov's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Loteyro wants to control his opponent's hands but Resnov gets his hands free. Loteyro staying busy and making it hard for Resnov to control. Loteyro trying to control the hands but Resnov won't let him. Loteyro covers up after that shot from Resnov.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Resnov controls the position. Resnov scores with punches to the body. Resnov working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Loteyro is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Resnov has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Loteyro taps out!
