PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Roll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ugdi Babalusk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roll comes to the cage accompanied by Limp Bizkit - Rollin'. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mike Roll!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ugdi Babalusk!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Steve Montenegro and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roll fails to land the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Roll. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Roll looks to land a right hand but Babalusk moved out of range.
Mike Roll seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Babalusk keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Roll misses with a takedown attempt - Babalusk sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Roll looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Roll looks for a takedown but Babalusk sprawls well.

Babalusk feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Babalusk has hold of Roll's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Roll manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Roll tries to reverse the position but Babalusk maintains control.
Roll's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Roll bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Roll works over Babalusk with some ground and pound from guard.
Roll passes Babalusk's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Babalusk tries to roll over but Roll keeps him under control.

Roll is trying to work for a kimura but Babalusk is defending well.
Roll is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Babalusk regains full guard. Nicely done.
Roll passes into half guard.
Babalusk is refusing to be controlled, as Roll sits in half guard.
Babalusk moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Roll wants to control from the top but Babalusk keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ugdi Babalusk dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Roll fails with the takedown

and Babalusk counters with a nice double leg into side control. Roll won't be happy with that.

Babalusk thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Babalusk wants to finish this one by submission but Roll is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Babalusk.
Roll can't escape the position.
Babalusk moves to the back position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
