Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matts Serra!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Muhammad Tyson!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Emerson Jorge and Alexandre Firmino.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Serra misses the target.
Tyson throws out a leg kick but Serra moves out of range and Tyson only half commits.

Serra drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Serra happy to just control the position for now.
Serra wants to take a breather but Tyson manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Serra.
Tyson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Serra looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Serra is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Serra wants to control from the top but Tyson keeps moving.
Serra pushing down on Tyson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Serra is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Matts Serra.

Tyson clinches up with Serra and pushes him back against the ropes.
Serra has Tyson pressed against the ropes, preventing Tyson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Serra is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Tyson gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Serra is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Tyson pulls him back up using the underhooks.
A head punch on the inside from Tyson fails to land.
Tyson pushes Serra back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Tyson gets underhooks to prevent Serra's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Matts Serra. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tyson swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Tyson is pressed up against the ropes. Serra has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Tyson down to the mat. Tyson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Tyson misses with a few strikes there.
Tyson has his takedown stuffed

and Serra counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Tyson's guard now.

Tyson working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Serra.
Tyson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Serra is one step ahead there.
Serra won't allow Tyson to get back to his feet.
Serra wants to pass the guard but Tyson is keeping the position.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Tyson keeping moving, preventing Serra from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Serra.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Tyson cracks Serra with a right hand to the side of the head.

and Serra counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Serra drops back, looking for a kneebar! Tyson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Tyson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Tyson!
Serra struggling a bit here.
Tyson is looking to take a break and control but Serra is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Serra sneaks back into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Matts Serra dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Tyson stuffs the takedown attempt from Serra. Serra gets slowly back to his feet.
Tyson swats away the attempt to clinch by Serra.

Serra is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Serra seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tyson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Tyson gets back to full guard.
Serra postures up.
Tyson is breathing heavily.
Serra showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Serra advances to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Serra throwing shots but Tyson is blocking nicely.
Serra is trying to control the action in half guard but Tyson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Tyson is defending against the submission attempts here by Serra.
Serra passes to side control.
Serra tries to move into full mount but can't pass Tyson's legs.
Serra trying to control the position but Tyson is working away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Serra is trying to get an arm triangle but Tyson is defending well.

Serra working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Serra is working to tighten is grip on Tyson's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Tyson has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Serra is really squeezing tight and eventually Tyson passes out! Serra breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:01 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Matts Serra!
